When did that happen…..

In Destiny, Experience, Inevitable, Mind on November 18, 2010 at 12:07 am

I thought I would go and do a good thing for my grand-daughter.  I took her to Best Buy and bought her an MP3 player, so that the waiting in all the emergency rooms would not be so tedious.  After convincing her that she really didn’t want a $200 MP3 player, and that the $50 one would work just as good, I went to the checkout line.  Waiting patiently in line, as I have been getting a lot of practice lately from waiting for doctors, it was my turn next.

I walked up to the register and there was a male, 20 something year old, cashier, ringing up my purchase. At the end of the purchase a female, about 16, bumped into me and said, “Oh, excuses me, mam!”  I took this with a grain of salt because I thought she was just being polite.  But as I turned back to the cashier, he handed me my bag and said, “Here you go sweetie.”

My first thought was, how cute, he’s flirting with a cougar, then it went to, wow he’s getting pretty fresh, and then the last split second thought came rambling through my little brain with a loud crash, WHEN DID I BECOME A BLUE HAIRED OLD LADY?????

Can you spare a gal a prayer….

In Experience, Manage, Mind, Religion on November 11, 2010 at 3:14 pm

Not to make this all about me, but my ten year old granddaughter is going into surgery sometime soon. I have to be in three places at once and I need some prayers that all this fits it into my crazy schedule. That sounds soooooo bad, but I just have to be there.

So here’s the order of prayers. After all, while you’re there praying it might as well be more then one prayer.  Hey you got his attention.  Oh and if you want to slip one in for yourself, more power to you.

  1. First, please pray for her, she’s being so brave. She stepped on a needle and it broke off into her foot and lodged into the bone. If you look at the picture it’s in the bottom, middle.  Just a white line.  She did this last week and has been hobbling around on crutches for a while. No complaints on her part.  She’s my hero.
  2. Second, I have payroll and some very angry men who don’t understand that I may not be there for their checks because of the surgery. What’s so hard to understand that their kids might not get fed tonight, or their ex-wife doesn’t ger her alimony check, or their girlfriend on the side doesn’t get to be spoiled this week.  I mean really. Who’s being selfish now.
  3. Third, I’m selling a house for someone I said I would help out over ten years ago and became care taker for two houses and all his finances, and his business, all without pay. They are doing the final walk thru today and inspection.  If everything goes well, I will not have to be involved with this man ever, ever again (except for the 400 lb, hand carved Jade Buddha he left behind that I have nicely tucked away) But I’m suppose to be there too. Maybe if I take a shower it will help. Remember the gremlins, don’t get them wet or they will multiply.

Glass Half full/empty, Yin/Yang effect:

  1. My grandaughter is learning that she has to clean her room so you don’t step on a needle
  2. The doctor hands out some great prescription pills. How else do you think I’m handling all this.
  3. People really love you when you have control over their pay checks.
  4. Don’t believe everything you see in the movies (Gremlins – nice thought though)
  5. You always have something to smile about for amusement…… Yourself.

Challenging my glass of Yin and Yang

In Destiny, Experience, Religion on November 7, 2010 at 6:59 pm

It’s been a really challenging week.  I’m being challenged with my beliefs of the glass half full.  One of my friends, age 74, came home after driving himself, and crashed into every wall in the house.  He grumbled at me and went into his bedroom.  I tried very hard to get him in there without hurting himself but I think his evil twin came out and all he could do was yell, just leave me alone, I need to sleep.

Being the “I follow request to a T” kind of person, I left him alone.  He would come out of his room and crash his way to the bathroom, slam the door, because of course I jumped up to try and help, in my face, and threw up.  Then he would crash back to his room and go back to sleep.  This went on for about 4 hours.  What do you do when someone yells, “NO, DON’T CALL 911, I’LL BE FINE.”  You don’t listen after four hours.

Needless to say, we had every emergency vehicle in the driveway.  Which, stepping aside for a minute, I’m not too happy with him because he picked that day to get sick.  A bunch of us had gone out the night before and we were all suffering from morning after “what the heck was I thinking”.  That’s why I was at his house, we all slept over.  I had no make-up, no change of clothes, no shower.  I’ll stop there you must have gotten the picture by now.

Back to the driveway.  Every gorgeous man in the world got out of those vehicles.  It must be a pre-requisite to look like that when you join the fire department.  Sad for me, they rushed in and asked how I was feeling.  Not me, him.  Off to the hospital.  After hours of waiting and testing in the emergency, he was admitted to the stroke ward.  He had two strokes, and they found out he had a hole in his heart.  (one out of every five people have this condition and the only way you can know is by having a stroke, unless you ask the doctor for a special test.)

Three days later they released him and I took him home.  He has to give himself shots in his stomach daily and take a bunch of medication.  He must take his blood pressure medicine which he was not doing.  Please people, take your BP medicine.

So the half/full, Yin/Yang of this situation has to be that nothing was damaged and he found out he has this condition.  Thank God he is still around to talk about it.
